Straight answers about files, free uses, browsers, OCR, and plans — written to match how PDFTrusted actually works.

Files & privacy

Do you keep a copy of my processed files?+
Guests do not get a permanent archive. Many everyday tools process in your browser. Secure conversion jobs clean up after download, and leftovers are removed within 1 hour — download promptly. After you sign in, you can use History (results are kept for 1 hour) to download, open in another tool, or delete. Pro adds PDFTrusted Storage: files stay while your plan is active, then clean up after a short grace period. Details: Security.
Are my files private?+
Browser tools are designed to stay in your session when the job allows it. Secure conversion and helper tools use HTTPS for transit. We do not sell your documents. For the practical split and legal detail, read Security and Privacy. Your school or employer may still have their own rules for sensitive files.
Do you sell my documents or train on them?+
We do not sell document contents as a product. Helpers that summarize, chat, or generate questions may send text needed for your request to a model provider so the feature can answer. That is for completing the job you started — not for building a public archive of your PDFs. See Privacy → Your documents.

Storage & History

What is PDFTrusted Storage?+
Storage is part of Pro — open it from the account menu. It works like a calm phone Files app for PDF, images, Word, and other formats our tools support. Save results, upload supported files, open them in any tool, download, or delete. Pro includes 1 GB under PDFTrusted Shield — files stay in your account cloud only while your plan is active. On Free, your results download straight to your device. We never show a fill bar — only a soft note if you are near the cap. See Pricing.
What is tool History?+
With an account, results are kept in History for 1 hour. If a tab closes or a tool glitches, you can still download the result, send it to another tool, or delete it. Guests only get an immediate download — History needs sign-in. Longer keep belongs in PDFTrusted Storage.

Using the tools

How do I upload a file?+
Open any tool from All tools. Drag and drop onto the drop zone, or tap Select files. The menu beside that button can also open Google Drive or Dropbox. Set the options for that tool, process, then download. Keep a copy of the original until you confirm the result.
What browsers and devices work?+
Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari on Windows, Mac, Android, or iPhone. Local tools need a modern browser with enough memory for the file size. Secure conversion also needs a working internet connection. If a download looks stuck, try a private window or another browser.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?+
A scan is an image of text — plain convert tools cannot “see” characters without OCR. Use OCR PDF to add a searchable text layer, or a PDF-to-Office tool with OCR mode when that path is offered. The document language is detected automatically, even on mixed-language pages. Secure cloud OCR is built for multi-page scans and everyday phone photos. Free includes a daily page allowance so the service stays fair and fast.
How does OCR work on PDFTrusted?+
OCR is a short secure cloud job: upload, process over HTTPS with automatic language detection, download a searchable PDF. Temporary processing files are cleaned up after the job when possible. Task records last 2 hours. Stored copies are removed within 1 hour. Details: Security.
Why does one job take longer than another?+
Most of the time comes down to file size and page count. Server tools such as merge, compress, and OCR do the work on our side, so a long scan simply has more pages to read.
Will a big PDF crash my browser?+
PDFTrusted is built to keep your phone or laptop smooth. Light jobs run on your device for speed and privacy. Heavy files, long scans, and large batches can move to secure cloud processing automatically, so the hard work happens on powerful servers while your browser stays fast and responsive.
What happens if my internet drops during a job?+
Once your file is uploaded, the cloud job keeps running on its own. If your connection cuts out for a moment, the page waits and picks the job back up as soon as you are online again, so you do not have to start over or upload the file a second time. When you are signed in, the finished file is also saved to your History.
Can I download my finished file again later?+
Yes, when you are signed in. Your finished files are saved to your History for 1 hour. If a tab closes or a download fails, open History to download it again, send it to another tool, or delete it. For files you want to keep longer, save them to PDFTrusted Storage.
What is Standard vs Advanced AI?+
On Summarize, Chat, and related helpers, Standard is the fast path for everyday overviews and questions. Advanced uses a stronger AI path when the document needs more depth. Free keeps fair daily page limits so students and daily users stay smooth without ads or watermarks; upgrade when you need higher ceilings.
Can I import from Google Drive or Dropbox?+
Yes. On a tool page, open the menu beside the file button and choose Google Drive or Dropbox. You can also pick a file that is already on your device. On a phone, the share sheet is often the fastest path when the file is already downloaded.
Can other people sign the same PDF?+
On Pro, Request Signatures sends the file to the people you name and keeps a record of who signed. The stored copy is deleted 30 days after the request ends. Signing your own name is free, in the browser, with Sign PDF. This is not a government-qualified signature.
When is PDFTrusted the wrong tool?+
When you need a desktop app, a file past 100 MB, an ISO 27001 certificate, or unlimited AI. We do not have those. The accessibility check reports problems. It does not rebuild the file as a tagged PDF. The comparisons say the same thing next to the other products.

Free uses, account & plans

What is Free vs Pro?+
Free allows 3 server jobs a day and files up to 25 MB for a guest, or 10 jobs and 50 MB when you sign in. Pro allows 500 jobs a day, 3 at once, and files up to 200 MB. See Pricing.
Is PDFTrusted free?+
Yes. Start without signing up. Guests get free daily uses tracked fairly on our side so the service stays honest — you do not need an account for everyday student or daily PDF work. No ads and no watermark on tool pages. Convert, OCR, and AI jobs also have fair daily caps so the service stays fast for everyone. Paid plans raise limits — see Pricing. The header badge is an on-page estimate; clearing site data may reset local counters only — server quotas still protect fair use.
Do I need an account?+
No for basic free uses — that is intentional. We want merge, compress, OCR, and study tools to stay usable without a login wall. Create an account when you want paid plans, invoices, or a stable login across devices.
I did not get my login or confirmation email+
Check Spam, Junk, and Promotions. Wait a few minutes — delivery is usually quick but not always instant. Confirm the address has no typo. Still missing? Email support@pdftrusted.com.
How do refunds and cancellations work?+
No refunds after payment.Cancel anytime within 7 days of starting a trial, and you are not charged. After a payment, we refund it only in these three cases.1. The same plan was charged twice by accident. We refund the extra charge.2. The site or a Pro feature was not working because of a fault on our side, and we can confirm that. We refund that payment.3. You ask within 48 hours of the payment, and you have not used Pro since that payment. This case can be used once per account in any 12 months.Using Pro means a finished Pro job, a signature request you send, or a file you save to Storage after that payment. Signing in, opening a page, or downloading an invoice is not use. The 48 hours start at the payment time.Statutory consumer rights, where a mandatory law applies, are not affected.A chargeback, or a refund request made to get around these rules, suspends the account.Write to support@pdftrusted.com with the invoice number.
