A long PDF is rarely what anyone needs in full. Your accountant wants the March statement, not the whole year. A teacher wants chapter three, not the entire course pack. Split PDF lets you cut one document into exactly the files you need. Choose Range to set custom page ranges or split every few pages, or choose Pages to save every page as its own PDF or pick specific ones like 1,5-8. A live preview shows each part before you commit, and you can merge the chosen ranges into one PDF instead. When there are several parts, they download together in a single ZIP. Everyday splits run in your browser on your own device. A large Pro file is sent to our server. No ads, no watermark, and no account needed.

What makes splitting PDFs easy here

  • Custom ranges — add as many ranges as you like, such as pages 1–4 and 9–12
  • Fixed splitting — cut a long file into equal parts of 2, 5, or 10 pages each
  • Every page or just a few — save each page as its own PDF, or only the pages you type in
  • Live preview — see the first and last page of every part before you download
  • One PDF or many — merge selected ranges into a single file, or get separate files in one ZIP
  • Private and clean — split in your browser on Free, or on our server for a large Pro file, with no watermark, no ads, and no sign-up

Split PDF FAQ

Is Split PDF free?

Yes. Splitting is included in your free daily uses for PDFs up to 100 MB and 100 pages. The files you download carry no watermark, and the page has no ads. If you regularly split long reports or large scans, Pro gives you room for bigger documents.

Is it safe to split a confidential PDF here?

Yes. On the free plan, the PDF is split inside your browser on your own device, so the document is not uploaded to our servers. For Pro users, very large files can be split with secure cloud processing, and those temporary files are deleted automatically afterward.

Will the split files look the same as the original?

Yes. Each new PDF uses the exact pages from your original, with the same text, images, fonts, and layout. Nothing is re-scanned or compressed, so what you see in the original is exactly what you get in every part, whether you read it on screen or print it.

How do I split a PDF into single pages?

Choose the Pages tab and pick Extract all pages. Every page becomes its own PDF, and the preview tells you how many files will be created. Split, then download them together in one ZIP. To save only certain pages, choose Select pages and type something like 2,4,7-9.

Can I split a PDF on my phone or Mac?

Yes. The splitter works in Safari, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows. Pick the PDF from your Files app or downloads, set your ranges with the number fields, and save the parts straight to your device. There is nothing to install.

How large a PDF can I split?

Free covers PDFs up to 100 MB and 100 pages, which fits most statements, contracts, and course packs. Pro handles files up to 100 MB and 200 pages for thick reports and long scanned archives. In both cases, you can create as many parts as the document has pages.

What if I want several ranges in one file instead of separate files?

Tick Merge all ranges in one PDF file under your custom ranges. For example, pages 1–2 and 10–12 become one five-page PDF. The same option exists in Pages mode, so the pages you type in can also be saved together as a single document.

How is Split PDF different from Extract Pages and Split PDF by Size?

Split PDF is the all-rounder for ranges and single pages. Extract Pages is the quickest route when you only want to keep a few pages as a new file. Split PDF by Size is made for email and upload caps: you enter a size in MB, and the parts are planned around it.
